"The yarn used in the Aran sweater from Donegal Yarns has a mixture of neps of various colors, so it matches any landscape and any outfit, and the sparkle of the foil is like an angel's wings that can soar into the cloudy sky in one go. (YUKI FUJISAWA Production Diary/Author: Yume Nomura)"
This year's yarn is made from Irish wool, and is made from the soft Donegal variety, which contains light neps and is the most comfortable to wear. When you wear it, it is surprisingly light and warm, like embracing the spring sun.
This hand-knitted sweater has voluminous sleeves that spread out like clouds in the sky, making it a statement piece on its own. The loose silhouette makes it perfect for layering with a turtleneck on cold days to keep you warm.
The Aran pattern is also featured on the back and sleeves, making it cute from any angle.
On the chest, a delicate woven design depicts lingonberries (cloverberry) spotted in the distant Baltic country, vibrantly bearing fruit, and the design is foil-stamped with a gradation that sparkles with dew.
Of the vintage collared shirts that YUKI FUJISAWA has come into contact with over the decades, there were none that fit well, so this "Collared Pullover" was created through repeated revisions, with particular attention paid to the balance of the sleeves and length, making it a very special piece.
At the unveiling party, the BALTIC SEA color order was popular. The sparkle of the foil is even more dazzling against the deep navy, and it sparkles brightly on the chest.

[COLOR]
・WHISPER (color shown in photo)
A deep ecru color, interspersed with the colors of natural jewels. The soft yellow of a chick's feathers, the light blue of the sky at sunrise, the gentle beige of a sandy beach... From afar, ecru matches naturally with any outfit, but up close you'll see a landscape full of vitality.
The classic white color of Aran knitwear highlights the three-dimensional Aran knitting pattern and gives off the warmth of hand-knitted items. It has a classic and calming atmosphere that makes you want to spend some relaxing time with it.
・WOOD
The Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) have abundant timber resources and wooden architecture is thriving. The colors of the walls and soil of the 18th century historical streets that I saw at the Museum of Ethnical Life left a deep impression on me. The history and culture of the land is alive, and the skillful blend of grayish colors that evoke the passage of time makes you feel the changing of the seasons and the breath of nature. It brings to mind quiet autumn scenes and snowy winter scenery. It's a mixed beige that surprisingly fits any outfit, from fashionable to casual.
・GRASSLAND
"Look outside the window. For me, expressing the color green is the most difficult thing to do," said Nora, a craftsman I met at a wool factory in Ireland. Born and raised in the natural surroundings of Donegal, famous for its mountains and lush grasslands, the color green has a special meaning to her as a color mixer. The country roads of Northern Ireland, the cityscapes of Northern Europe, and the green of the coniferous trees as autumn approaches that I saw with Nora have been burned into my memory and never left my memory.
The calming moss green color evokes a sense of peace and connection with nature. It is a simple, relaxing color that brings to mind nostalgic scenery.
・BALTIC SEA
This colorful and light navy blue was inspired by the color of the night sea from the Baltic country of Estonia to Finland. The red light of a lamp, the stars in the night sky, and the white foam of the waves emerge from the deep sea. The navy blue blends and dances in the sea, creating an exquisite harmony. It inspires the imagination of Baltic Sea voyages and nighttime adventures that have continued since ancient times.
Donegal Yarns' standard colors, green blue and purple blue, are blended together to create a deeper, original blue color that will gently light up your winter outfit.
[MATERIAL]
100% PURE MERINO WOOL (Origin: Ireland)
Ireland is a traditional wool-producing region. We visited Donegal Yarns, one of the oldest wool spinning mills, which continues to produce wool to this day. When the first mill was established in the Donegal region in the northwest of Ireland in the early 1800s, the wool and tweed fabrics spun in this region quickly gained a reputation for their warmth and durability, and became sought after around the world.
Donegal Yarn is made using traditional methods that have been passed down through generations. Some craftsmen work for two generations, and the yarn continues to be produced by professionals using the same manufacturing methods today. It is the skills and passion of skilled craftsmen who dye, blend, and twist that make each yarn complete.
Sometimes, neps of a different color than the recipe or plants carried by the sheep may be mixed into the yarn, but this is proof that they are aiming for zero waste. Because they value the blessings of nature and place importance on producing without waste, all of the wool that is produced during the yarn blending process in the factory is recycled into a single yarn.
The beauty of the yarn, which is made with the passion of artisans who value making things with their own hands and do not waste a single piece, gives a sense of the connection to nature and the warmth of handwork. The yarn is 100% wool and has a soft and beautiful texture like the Aran sweaters of the good old days. Sheep's wool has high heat retention and durability. We have carefully selected yarns that have the beauty that can only be achieved by hand, as if they were spun by hand, which will expand the joy of wearing the blessings of nature.
