Holiday Atelier shop 2023 New jewelry “Fragments of Quartz” unveiled

NEWS | 2023/11/23

In time for the holidays, we will open YUKI FUJISAWA atelier in Sendagaya from December 8th (Friday) to December 10th (Sunday), 2023, and present our new jewelry “Fragments of Quartz.”

``Fragments of Quartz'' earrings are created from the delicate fingertips of a hand-polished gemstone polisher and are made with three sparkling colors: aquamarine, quartz, and rose quartz. Crushed quartz, born from an instantaneous miracle, sparkles like the melting snow of long ago or the tears shed by living creatures.

Gemstone polishers cut raw stones and add sparkle to them, an ancient handicraft that imbues stones with light. In modern times, it is said that there are fewer than 10 craftsmen in Japan who ``cut'' and polish jewelry by hand.

Kanna Oshiro, a hand-polished jewelry polisher, is the only woman among them. Hand-polishing is the result of a tremendous amount of time spent discovering the unique expressions of stones lying in nature and searching for the only way to make them shine in this world. One of her masterpieces, crushed quartz, was created in a special shape for YUKI FUJISAWA.

To commemorate this new work, we would like to introduce Kanna Oshiro's hand-polished natural stone works. A plane cut that is free from uniform beauty and has a free sparkle. There are 7 works including garden quartz, labradorite, and green moonstone.
In addition to enjoying the loose pieces as objects, if you bring your loose pieces to the jewelry brand fillyjonk, which supervises YUKI FUJISAWA's jewelry, they will accept orders for rings and other items. As a fun feature that can only be held at the atelier, you can also enjoy trying on sweaters from 2013, previewing new colors of new sweaters from 2024, and reminiscing about the designer's travels inspired by the designer.

We will also be introducing our standard jewelry collection, such as the Lace Ring, which expresses delicate lace, as well as some knit accessories. As a reward for yourself who has worked hard this year, or as a gift to commemorate your feelings for that special someone. I hope you find new encounters.

Production diary “Fragments of Quartz / Light created by gemstone polisher Kanna Oshiro”

“The magical compact that ended up in my parent's dresser drawer. The aurora-colored cellophane wrapping around sweets. The concrete particles twinkling like a starry sky. The glowing sand in the playground. I was surprised to find I had taken a nap. When I woke up, I saw my grandmother's bead-like eyes.It wasn't just my vision, but the words that many people said to me.It's an unforgettable feeling.
Memories of the shining things we encountered in our lives that shine in each person's heart. The memory of light remains persistently and helps us live. In that case, I want to remember all kinds of light. And I want to never forget that there were, and still are, people whose lives are fueled by that light.
The gemstones that Kanna cut and polished are proof of the happy relationships between people and stones, and between people who do not extinguish each other's light. Peek into the story that is revealed in the sparkle of the droplets. This jewelry may be like a magical vehicle that transports you to such a story. ”
