Story of [Aran Hand-knitted 2022]

The existence of knits is created with as many stitches, as many steps, and as many people in mind. Designer Fujisawa continues to be inspired by Irish hand-knitted Aran knits.

The beauty found in nature, such as the nets used by people who live with the sea, the beehives that bring fruit, and the plants that sprout, are woven together with compassion for someone.

The warmth of hand knitting cannot be created without someone else's handiwork. We aim to create products that transcend all boundaries by layering sparkles like strata on knits that are not only functional but also have a sense of warmth.

In 2022, four types of new knit hats with collars will be available, in addition to the standard mittens/mufflers/knit hats (balaclavas).

Reservations will be accepted until 23:59 on Sunday, May 15th at YUKI FUJISAWA Online . As each item is hand-knitted based on an order, reservations will close once the limit is reached.

【Balaclava (knit cap)】gently wraps around you.

A 2-way knit hat with a muffler that can also be used as a hoodie. We also paid special attention to the shape of the hood, which looks beautiful from any angle in 360 degrees. A comfortable knit hat that gently wraps around your ears, neck, and back of your head.

Pass the left and right mufflers through the holes to create a beautiful, snug knot. The firm hold keeps you warm and protects you from the cold winds of winter.

A lovely Aran pattern inspired by tulips blooms on the profile. We have done a lot of research on where to bloom to make it look more adorable when covered.

And we've updated it just a little from last year's design. To improve practicality, the knitting pattern on the back of the head has been changed to a denser pattern. We've received positive reviews for how warm it is, and we've made it even more heat-retaining by creating a tightly packed pattern. Over the course of a year, our staff members have been using it to better reflect their real-life experiences.

[Collared Balaclava (knit collared hat)] Pretty and poetic tulip collar

A new knit hat with a collar was born this year. The cape features frilled tulip flowers and roots (!), giving it a lovely and poetic impression.

It wraps you warmly up to your shoulders and brings you excitement. 2-way design that can be used as a hoodie when the hat is taken down. We also paid special attention to the shape of the ruffles that beautifully coordinate with outerwear.

It gently wraps around your ears, neck, back of your head, and around your shoulders, giving you the comfort of being wrapped in a single duvet.

By designing the muffler to be long, the long vertical accent that balances the large cape collar creates a cute yet smart impression.

The knot has been designed with both silhouette and functionality. I made a hole to pass the muffler through so that the left and right lengths were equal. If you thread it alternately on the left and right sides, you will create a beautiful, snug knot. The firm hold keeps you warm and protects you from the cold winds of winter.

This year, SKY BLUE and GREIGE have been added as new colors, expanding to three colors.

・WHITE

Speaking of Aran knit, it is a classic off-white color. The three-dimensional Aran pattern stands out clearly, and it is the color that allows you to enjoy the warm hand-knit feel to the fullest.

・SKY BLUE (new color)

The light blue color evokes the image of the calm winter sky outside the window. The tranquil color with a slight gray-green tinge is reminiscent of the natural scenery of Ireland. It sparkles as a bright presence in your winter attire.

・GREIGE (new color)

The light beige-tinged greige blends well with the skin and is recommended for those who like a calm look. An exquisite color that mysteriously fits any outfit, from mode to casual.

We take great care in choosing the materials so that you can use them every day. A mix of 70% merino wool, which has the highest heat retention among wools, and 30% high-quality soft acrylic. The warmth and texture are both great.

Because it is a fluffy and light yarn, it can be used for a long time from the winter season to the chilly early spring. The knitted hat we released last year received great feedback for its texture, so we chose the same yarn as last year.

Another attractive feature of this yarn is that it clearly shows off the knitted fabric. The plump and beautiful knitting pattern unique to Aran knits is a special pattern among knits that can only be expressed by hand-knitting.

[Knit Scarf]

Just as it is, the air of the good old days of the Aran Islands

"Powder snow" is an image of a winter landscape with snow falling gently on the trees and sparkling with light. By layering the foil in a gradation, it shines in a variety of expressions depending on the angle of the light.

If you wrap it tightly twice, the foil will sparkle around your face, creating a gorgeous impression. Leave it on for a long time to create a refreshing and calming atmosphere. This is a muffler that you can enjoy matching with your daily coordination.

There are an infinite number of Aran patterns, all of which are beautiful and varied. I thought carefully about it based on old vintage books and books that I keep in my atelier as reference materials.

The asymmetrical Aran pattern creates a modern atmosphere within a classical calm.

【Mittens】 In 2022, also compatible with smartphones.

Every time I wave my hand, the foil sparkles, and my heart dances involuntarily. The leaf pattern on the palm side evokes a design that feels like the expansive nature.

I made small holes at the tips of my index finger and thumb. You can use your smartphone while wearing the mittens. You can check the road for a while or operate it only when necessary. Since it is in both hands, it is safe for both right-handed and left-handed people. While preserving the traditional patterns and techniques of Aran knitting, it is a design that fits modern lifestyles.

The scarves and knit hats have matching materials and diamond patterns. You can use them together as a set.

Scarf & Mittens / Color and Thread

・WHITE

Natural color of unbleached sheep. A gradation of foil from gold to platinum is used to create a nostalgic and calming atmosphere.

・NAVY

It is a mixture of two colors of navy, which resembles a shaded indigo dye. By knitting yarns dyed in slightly different tones together, we created a deep navy that seems to emit light from within.

This 100% wool yarn has a simple yet beautiful texture, like an old-fashioned Aran sweater. I was inspired by the hand-spun yarn I encountered when I first visited the Aran Islands, the birthplace of Aran knitting.

In the Aran Islands, there is a history in the past of families raising sheep and spinning wool. Inspired by an encounter in the Aran Islands where it all began, we selected threads that have the imperfect beauty of handcrafted work, as if they were spun by hand.

Made of 100% natural wool, it has high heat retention. If you have sensitive skin and are concerned about the comfort of a scarf, you can enjoy it with a turtleneck.

Because it retains its attractive texture, it has a slight wool-like scent. It is a mixture of plant seeds and wood chips brought by the sheep, as well as the colored wool of different sheep. I would be happy if you could understand the charm of nature.

What is Alan Knit?

Aran knits have been hand-knitted sweaters for nearly 100 years on the small islands of Ireland's Aran Islands. Even if you look around the world today, there are very few areas where the traditional culture of handicrafts remains.

I've come across countless hand-knitted sweaters made with love that still shine after decades. ``Even after 30 or 40 years, I want it to be a presence that gently warms someone.'' With this in mind, YUKI FUJISAWA is particular about Aran knits, which can only be expressed by hand-knitting.

We are handling the maintenance of items.

At YUKI FUJISAWA, we accept orders for foil repairs and repairs for holes and other damage so that you can enjoy ``changing with time.'' Because we work hard in our atelier, we hope to spend time with you so that you can use our products for many years to come.

The reservation event is until May 15.

Online reservation session will be held from April 29th (Friday) 20:00 to May 15th (Sunday) 23:59. Since each piece is hand-knitted by a craftsman, we will produce it based on the number of orders received at the reservation meeting. Reservations will be closed as soon as the limit is reached.
