Story of [Aran Hand-knitted 2022]

NEWS | 2022/05/01

The existence of a knit that is born with someone in mind as much as the number of stitches and steps. Designer Fujisawa continues to be inspired by hand-knitted Arran knits from Ireland.

The beauty found in nature, such as nets used by people who live with the sea, beehives that give fruit, and buds and trees, are woven together with feelings of affection for someone.

The warmth of hand-knit is not born without someone's handiwork. We aim to create a product that transcends all boundaries, layering sparkles like strata in a knit that is not only functional but also warm.

In 2022, four types of new collared knit hats will appear in addition to the standard mittens/mufflers/knitted hats (balaclava).

The reservation session will start at YUKI FUJISAWA online until 23:59 on Sunday, May 15th. We will close the reservation as soon as we reach the upper limit because we knit each by hand based on the order.

[Balaclava (knit hat)] Gently wraps you

A 2-way knit hat with a muffler that can also be used as a hoodie. We also paid particular attention to the shape of the hood, which looks beautiful from any angle. A comfortable knit hat that gently wraps around the body, from the ears to the neck and back of the head.

When the left and right mufflers are passed through the holes, a perfect and beautiful knot is completed. It keeps you warm by holding it tight and protects you from the cold winter winds.

A lovely aran pattern inspired by tulips blooms on the side. We have done a lot of research to see where it blooms when you wear it to make it look more lovely.

And just a little update from last year's design. In order to improve practicality, the knitting pattern on the back of the head has been changed to a more dense pattern. We have received positive feedback that it is very warm, and the tightly packed pattern further enhances the heat retention. Over the course of a year, the staff actually used it habitually, reflecting their real-life experiences.

[Collared Balaclava (collared knit hat)] Pretty and poetic tulip collar

This year, a new knit hat with a collar was born. The frilled cape with tulip flowers and roots (!) gives a lovely and poetic impression.

It wraps you warmly up to your shoulders and brings you excitement. 2WAY specification that becomes a hoodie when the hat is taken off. We also paid particular attention to the shape of the frills that beautifully coordinate with the outerwear.

It gently wraps your body around your ears, neck, back of your head, and around your shoulders, giving you the comfort of being wrapped in a single duvet.

By designing a long muffler, the vertical accent that hangs down for a long time balances with the large cape collar, giving it a cute yet smart impression.

The knot is devised for silhouette and function. I made a hole through the muffler so that the left and right lengths are even. If you pass it alternately on the left and right, you will get a perfect and beautiful knot. It keeps you warm by holding it tight and protects you from the cold winter winds.

knit hat/color and thread

This year, SKY BLUE and GREIGE have been added to the new colors, expanding to three colors.

・WHITE

Speaking of Aran knit, it is a classic off-white color. The three-dimensional Aran pattern stands out clearly, and it is a color that you can enjoy the warm knit likeness of hand-knitted.

・SKY BLUE (new color)

It is a light blue that imagines the calm winter sky that spreads outside the window. The tranquil color with a hint of grey-green evokes the natural landscapes of Ireland. It sparkles as a bright presence in your winter outfit.

・ GREIGE (new color)

The bright beige greige is familiar to the skin and is recommended for those who like a calm look. From mode to casual, it is an exquisite color that fits in any outfit.

We value the selection of materials so that you can use them every day. 70% merino wool, which has high heat retention among wool, and 30% high-quality soft acrylic are mixed. Both warmth and texture are good.

Because it is a soft and light yarn, it can be used for a long period of time from the winter season to the chilly early spring. The knit hat we released last year was very well received for its texture, so we chose the same yarn as last year.

Furthermore, the charm of this thread is that it clearly shows the knitted fabric. The plump and beautiful knitting pattern peculiar to Aran knit is a special pattern among knits that can be expressed only by hand knitting.

[Knit Scarf]

Retaining the atmosphere of the good old Aran Islands

"Powder snow" is an image of a glittering winter landscape with snow falling on the trees. By layering the foil in gradation, it shines in various expressions depending on the angle of the light.

If you wrap it tightly twice, the foil will sparkle around your face, giving it a gorgeous impression. Leave it on for a long time to create a clean and calm atmosphere. It is a muffler that you want to enjoy with your daily coordination.

The Aran pattern has an infinite number of patterns, all of which are beautiful and rich in variations. I thought about it carefully based on the old vintages and books that I keep in my atelier as materials.

By making the Alane pattern asymmetrical, it creates a modern atmosphere in a classical calmness.

[Mittens (gloves)] Smartphone compatible in 2022

Every time you wave your hand, the foil shines, and your heart dances unintentionally. The leaf pattern on the palm side is a design that makes you feel relaxed and natural.

I made a small hole on the tip of my index finger and thumb. You can operate your smartphone while wearing mittens. You can check the road a little and operate only when necessary. Since it is in both hands, it is safe for both right-handed and left-handed people. While preserving the traditional patterns and methods of Aran knitting, it is a design that is close to modern life.

Mufflers and mittens have matching materials and diamond patterns. You can use them together as a set.

Scarves & Mittens/Colors and Threads

・WHITE

Natural unbleached sheep color. The nostalgic and calm atmosphere is treated with a gradation of foil from gold to platinum.

・Navy

I mix two colors of navy like indigo dyeing with shades. By knitting threads that have been dyed in slightly different tones together, we have created a deep navy that seems to emit light from the inside.

A 100% wool yarn with a rustic yet beautiful texture like an old-fashioned Aran sweater. I was inspired by the hand-spun yarn I encountered when I first visited the Aran Islands, the birthplace of Aran knit.

In the Aran Islands, each family has a history of raising sheep and spinning wool. Inspired by the encounter in the Aran Islands, the place of origin, we have selected threads that have the imperfect beauty of handwork, as if they were spun by hand.

Because it is 100% natural wool, it has high heat retention. For those with sensitive skin who are concerned about the comfort of the muffler, it is safe to enjoy it with a turtleneck.

Because the charm of the texture is kept as it is, it has a slight wool-like scent. It is a mix of plant seeds and wood chips brought by sheep, as well as wool of different sheep colors. I would be happy if you could understand the charm of nature.

What is Arannit?

Aran knit has been handed down for nearly 100 years as a hand-knitted sweater on the small island of Ireland's Aran Islands. Even if you look around the world today, there are really few areas where the traditional culture of handicrafts remains.

I've come across many hand-knitted sweaters that have been lovingly crafted by someone and still shine after decades. "Even after 30 or 40 years, I want it to warm someone's heart." With this in mind, YUKI FUJISAWA is particular about Aran knit, which can only be expressed by hand-knitting.

We accept item maintenance

At YUKI FUJISAWA, we accept orders for foil repairs and damage repairs such as holes so that you can enjoy "changing with time". It is precisely because we are doing handwork in our atelier that we would like to spend time with you so that you can use our products for a long time.

Reservations until May 15th

The online reservation will be open from April 29th (Fri) 20:00 to May 15th (Sun) 23:59. Since each piece is hand-knitted by a craftsman, we will produce it based on the number of orders received at the reservation meeting. Reservations will be closed as soon as the limit is reached.
